HISTORY
Let's start from the beginning. Not the beginning-beginning but Atom's beginning. And not the atom's, but the beginning of a boy whose parents decided to name him Atom, causing much him much distress throughout his life ("No, it isn't Adam it's Atom"). Anyway, this is how it all started.

When Marina Landy was 24, she met Hephaestus and they had a whirlwind romance which ended shortly after she learned that she was pregnant. Jack wasn't born into a life of sparkling prosperity, instead, he was born into lower-middle class life, something comprised of endless coupons and no name brands. He studied hard at school despite the Dyslexia, driven by his dream of buying his mother a nice home by the coast. He went to camp for his summers and met Leda Johnson whom he was thoroughly convinced was his dream girl. After affirming this, he proceeded to never talk to her again and pine after her for years from far away. The day before they left camp for their senior year in high school, Leda marched up to him and before he could say "Hi," she kissed him (which is actually a pretty impressive feat because hi is only a two letter word). Needless to say, they both turned out to be demigods who got happy endings.

Atom was the middle child but he was never neglected. Much to his chagrin, he was never forgotten about and therefore had to partake in family trivia nights, board game nights, and movie nights. Moat of these things weren't actually too bad and he actually rather liked board games, but Atom was always kind of a loner. He enjoyed staying in his room and reading comic books, watching tv shows and his own movies, and boating video games. It wasn't that he didn't have friends, he had a fair amount of friends, he just preferred spending his spare time with himself. At school, he was the kind of quiet kid who you would expect to be awkward and kind of loserly, and then one of his friends could marching along and they'd start laughing together. His personality usually wasn't what people were expecting when they talked to him but they usually got used to it quickly. He was existing quietly and contentedly when his parents decided it was time for all the next generation of Landys to go to camp and learn how to kill monsters efficiently and effectively.

APPEARANCE
Atom has a height of 6'1" and a thin and angular physique. Rather than working on having huge rippling muscles and thighs that he could crush a man's head between, Atom has spent years training with the intention of simply having a lean and toned build. His mother was always a health nut and she always encouraged having a good set of muscles, not necessarily big ones, just ones that worked well enough. Personally, Atom has always preferred the toned look anyway. Atom's hair is dirty blonde and curly as well as unmanageable. It often flops to one side even if he doesn't want it to, and it usually curls however it feels like curling. His eyes are a clear blue, neither particularly light nor dark.

His skin is on the paler side, although it isn't by any means milky white or anything of that sort. If anything, his skin has a bit of a pinkish tone often giving him a bit of a flushed look. He has willowy, nimble fingers with prominent veins and numerous scars. He also has a scar on his right shoulder and across his lower back. Atom has an angular facial structure and he also has a small cleft in his chin. He has never been too big a fan of the cleft chin but he usually consoled himself by going on a Superman cartoon/movie marathon. He often wears graphic t-shirts, ranging from characters from video games, to dramatic song lyrics, to the faces of various celebrities. Otherwise, he dresses fairly normally - just jeans and some sneakers as well as a sweater if it's cold.

PERSONALITY
Atom is a bit of a geek, to the say the least. He's always preferred the company of a good comic book or a challenging video game. Having two sisters, he was usually left to his own devices as they didn't often include him in anything they did. He began to prefer it that way, finding that he actually quite liked spending time by himself. That said, Atom isn't antisocial. It's easy enough for him to make friends, although it's usually the other person who approaches him first. He isn't exactly outgoing but he isn't shy either. He has a tendency to hold himself back and to refrain from doing things that will draw too much attention to him or to do new things.

He's extremely loyal to friends and really takes betrayal to the heart. It takes a lot for Atom to forgive betrayal, and it's often more trouble than it's worth. He's unlikely to hunt people down for vengeance, but it's easy enough for him to shut them out of his life, even if he previously cared for them a great deal. He's quick to forgive for other things, but betrayal just cuts him too deep. He doesn't seem to ever get angry, not seriously. It's difficult to rile him up because he's always backs away from conflicts and avoids people who provoke him.

Atom is patient and a good listener and he also greatly appreciates a person to whom he can rant to for an hour. He seems like a quiet, self-contained person, but in actuality, he likes to talk quite a bit. It takes a bit of time for him to warm up to other people and there are certain people who he will never feel quite comfortable around, but once you're friends with Atom, you really feel like you're his friend although you may not be best friends. His quietness drops away and he makes jokes more freely. Atom looks for friends who will accept him for who he is - they don't necessarily need to understand him all the time, they'e allowed to think that he's weird but they also need to think that's okay. Atom is accepting of other people's quirks and tries to make other people feel like they're welcome wherever they are. If someone's alone, he'll usually try to talk to them, although he can be pretty socially awkward sometimes, so he usually just makes them laugh.

If it means he can make someone else smile, he isn't afraid to look silly, despite the fact that he usually looks for social acceptance. He lacks the certain self-confidence needed to be independent from other people and what they think of him. Atom has a certain disdain for society that he keeps to himself because he wants to believe that things are better than they seem. He tries to see the good in things but often times, it isn't easy - especially since he's a demigod. He can't help but see the injustices and unfairness sometimes, and even thinks that they probably outweigh the positives most of the time. Atom has a black and white, factual way of looking at the world - similar to his mother and in stark contrast to the idealistic way that his father and his sisters see things. He can be unexpectedly pessimistic.

Atom can be very impertinent and persistent. If someone tells him that he can't do something, he just tries harder. He has a tendency to get tunnel vision and doesn't realize that he hurts people he cares about in the process. When Atom sets a goal, he does whatever he can to achieve it. When he makes mistakes, he doesn't forget and beats himself up about them. He often double checks and triple checks the things he does because he needs to be sure. He finds comfort in routine and work, he's willing to do things that other people don't want to and usually doesn't ask for favours in return.
HAMARTIA Atom is insecure and often doubts himself.

AMBROSIA

PETS Atom hasn't quite gotten over the death of his Tamagotchi in 2006.
WEAPONS Drawing inspiration from Sokka in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Atom uses a boomerang and celestial bronze claymore, named Grigoro and Dunamas respectively. He's quite a curious person, however, and has tried at least a dozen different weapons and is always willing to try something new.
OTHER Atom probably looks more like an Athena kid but he identifies more strongly with children of Hephaestus and therefore stays in Cabin 9. He also has his own segway which he rides often.
